Alternative indie extravaganza hits Zephyr Lounge in half term

A superb line up of music artists from across the county will be appearing at Leamington’s Zephyr Lounge on Wednesday 18 February, in what will be a big night for music in Coventry & Warwickshire.

Only Shadows Feb 2015Nuneaton’s Only Shadows, Leamington’s The Rushmore and Stratford’s Chasing Deer will join forces to provide an energy-packed night of alternative indie, with support from female Warwick-based DJ Keztrel.

Described as “one of the brightest hopes for UK guitar music” by Amazing Radio, headliners Only Shadows will bring their own brand alternative powerpop to Leamington, giving local fans a chance to see them in action before they go on a UK-wide tour in April supporting Young Kato, taking in dates from Nottingham to Southampton.

The Rushmore Feb 2015Support comes from Leamington’s very own The Rushmore, whose energetic blend of indie rock is guaranteed to get the crowd moving. Signed to 4Real Records, the band have been described as “sounding bigger that Godzilla” by The Assembly in Leamington and they will soon be releasing their second album.

Chasing Deer Feb 2015Opening the night are Stratford’s Chasing Deer, kicking off the evening with some amazing acoustic pop rock. The young unsigned band performs a mix of cover songs and original music, and will be treating the Zephyr crowd to a performance of their recently released debut single, ‘Step into the Light’.

DJ Keztrel Feb 2015All three bands will be complimented by two DJ sets from female Warwick-based DJ Keztrel, who’ll be playing a mix of electro and alternative tunes to get people in the mood and round off the evening.

Tickets are £5. They are available directly from the artists, online at, or on the door. Admission policy is 14+.

When Rosetta met the Rascals: Zephyr gig’s big name bands

Leamington’s Zephyr Lounge is the place to be for live music on Saturday 2 August as local heroes, Rosetta Fire, return to the town following a busy summer of gigs and festival appearances.
They’ll headline as a full band with support from Coventry’s Pretty Rascals, who have created a big buzz following a number of London dates and a recent support slot for none other than The Enemy.
Rosetta Fire and Pretty Rascals will be joined by young up and coming Stratford and Leamington-based band, Chasing Deer, to complete what promises to be an incredible line up of local bands from across Coventry & Warwickshire.
The ‘one night only’ event will give music fans an opportunity to see all three acts in one place before they go on to release new music and gig further afield in the autumn.
Rosetta Fire posed full bandThe headline appearance as a full five-piece band for Warwick’s Rosetta Fire follows hot on the heels from a number of gigs around the Midlands for the band and its core songwriters, Anthony Gliddon and James Lapworth.
The band have recently been in the studio working on new live tracks and a video documentary that will form part of a crowd-funding campaign to be launched in the autumn, which will help fund the recording of their next EP.
Rosetta Fire’s eclectic sound, drawing on indie, folk, rock and jazz, coupled with their harmonious vocals and infectious pop melodies will top off a brilliant line-up of local talent achieving big things. The following Wednesday (6 August), Rosetta Fire head to London to play a showcase gig at The Bedford in Balham, home of the annual FolkFest music event.
Pretty Rascals Photo 1After only their third live show at London’s 02 Academy, Islington (attended by a number of music industry executives), young Midland’s rock group, Pretty Rascals have played Wychwood Festival and recently supported The Enemy.
Formed in March 2014, five-piece Pretty Rascals are already making a big impression and are currently demoing songs for their debut album. The group grew from the core songwriting talent of Steve Malik and Loz Pettite, who first met in a Coventry club when Steve was just 13 and Loz 15. They soon began performing and writing together and developed an impressive, songwriting maturity, which now combines with the similarly huge range of musical influences of the other three members of Pretty Rascals, to make for an original sound that is at once both classic and fresh.
Chasing_Deer_Logo_v1Chasing Deer are a brand new three-piece band from Stratford and Leamington, consisting of Rob Hodkinson (vocals/piano), James Cushing (guitar/vocals) and Adam Biddlecombe (drums/percussion). The band describe their music as acoustic/alternative and will be treating the crowd to their own unique take on some well-known songs as they start to work on their own original material.
Limited advance tickets for the gig, priced at £4.50, can be booked online now via including a free digital Rosetta Fire track that will be sent to everyone who makes a booking. Doors open at 7.30pm with on the door tickets priced at £5.
